‘Most Authoritative Finding’ Shows Israel Guilty of Genocide–While 250 US Lawmakers Party in Jerusalem

The UN Commission of Inquiry on Palestine and Israel has concluded in the “most authoritative finding” yet, that the state of Israel is guilty of genocide according to international law.

Four of five crimes characterizing genocide were confirmed to be taking place or to have taken place in Gaza, the commission finds, which also found Israeli leaders guilty of the crime of incitement to genocide, a separate crime punishable even if a genocide didn’t take place.

The commission recommended halts to all arms transfers, sanctions on Israeli entities and individuals facilitating or committing the genocide, and at large taking steps to prevent genocide.

“For the finding on Israel’s responsibility for its conduct in Gaza, the commission used the legal standard set forth by the International Court of Justice. This is therefore the most authoritative finding emanating from the United Nations to date,” Navi Pillay, the commission’s chair, told Middle East Eye.

“Reports generated by the United Nations, including by a commission of inquiry, bear particular probative value and can be relied upon by all domestic and international courts”.

Due to be presented to the UN in October, the report will be the most authoritative source until the ICJ concludes the trial for genocide launched against Israel by South Africa in early 2024, which concluded with the court issuing several injunctions demanding Israel return to its commitments under the UN’s Genocide Convention, so ironically set up in the aftermath of the Holocaust.

The three-member commission of inquiry was established in 2021 by the UN Human Rights Council to investigate what were then other human rights violations in the occupied territories. The unpaid jurists already published three previous reports since the genocide began in Gaza, including one which confirmed two systemic violations of the Genocide Convention were taking place.

50 states one Israel

Released on September 16th, the report coincided with the second day in 7 of an unprecedented foreign visit by American state legislators to Israel as part of a bizarre and ridiculed event called “50 States 1 Israel”.

Day 1 included a welcome ceremony in Jerusalem in which 250 congressmen from various state governments were serenated with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in advance of speeches by top Israeli officials in which they encouraged the lawmakers to ramp up persecution for the BDS movement, or Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions.

In the US as of 2022, 35 states had passed legislation or executive orders that either restrict or ban individuals or companies dealing in state contracts from boycotting Israel. Recognizing that international condemnation and exclusion of Israel was growing, the Zionist regime seems to be coiling more tightly around its existing allies.

On the same day that the UN report recommended that Israel be found guilty of genocide, the Zionist Foreign Minister Gideon Saar told the assembled lawmakers that Israel was subject to “a coordinated global effort… to eliminate the State of Israel”.

Also on that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu, who spoke with the assembled legislators from the US, said he had received an invitation from President Trump to visit the White House again, in what would be his 4th US visit since the genocide began.

Netanyahu said the visit will take place on September 29th, three days after he is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly in New York. Reports show the flight will be a long one as Tel Aviv is no longer confidant that any mainland European country will permit the PM to pass through their airspace.

US commitments to the Genocide Convention would dictate that in response to the commission’s report, every effort should be made to prevent genocide, including perhaps by arresting Netanyahu and bringing him to trial in the Hague. The failure of such actions being a certainty, puts the US likewise outside her commitments to the convention, and could then be likewise liable of facilitating the genocide of the Gazans. WaL
